We are quickly approaching that special time of year where the Academy of Motion Pictures rewards what they assure us are the best films of the year. Do we love the Oscars, or do we hate them?

Yes.

Despite my frequent disagreement with the Academy’s choices, I still look forward to the Oscars every year in hopes that my favorite films will walk away with the golden statue. The nominations were just revealed earlier this week, so I wanted to take the time to list out my PICKS and PREDICTIONS for the upcoming evening.

To clarify, my PICK is the film that I personally think deserves the award, and my PREDICTION is the film that I think the Academy will actually award. Sometimes our choices go hand and hand, other times we couldn’t be more different.

I’d also like to throw out a quick disclaimer that I will not be covering the DOCUMENTARY FEATURE, DOCUMENTARY SHORT, ANIMATED SHORT, and SHORT FILM categories as I have not seen any of those nominees, so I don’t really think I have the authority to make guess on those.
